Marketing 11

Marketing Plan Research Project

The Assignment:  One of the best ways to learn about marketing is to take an in-depth look at one company’s marketing plan.  You can learn a lot from looking at how successful companies market their products and services but is also useful to look at companies that have failed in marketing and examine why.

Task one:  You are to pick one company to research.  It can either be product base or service based.  The project will be more interesting if you pick a company that you have an interest in.

Task two:  Once you have a company in mind, do a quick internet search and see if you will be able to find information on their marketing strategy.  You are welcome to choose a small company however, you may have to dig a little to find the information that you need.  If you can not find any information, choose a different company.

Task three: You are to produce a report on the company’s marketing plan.  You can choose to present this report in any of the following ways:
  • A typewritten report (must include pictures)
  • A PowerPoint presentation
  • A poster presentation
  • By creating a video, (using Windows Movie Maker for example)

Your report must include ALL of the following!
  • A brief overview of the company and why you chose this specific company.
  • Is it product or service based?
  • What is their organisational focus? (regional, international, brand, or distribution)
  • Who is the ‘Target Market’?   Be sure to mention demographics!
  • Evaluate the companies approach to each of the 4 P’s (price mix, product mix, promotion mix, and place mix)
  • What are the strengths of the marketing plan?
  • What are the weaknesses of the marketing plan?

This is a chance for you to showcase your skills and what you have learned.

Remember to ask if you’re having trouble finding information, I will be more than willing to help!!

Marketing is becoming less about getting information out to consumers and more about getting information from consumers (to then use to influence the same consumers of course).  Google is one of the emerging masters of this.  Today we look at some of the business acquisitions Google has been making and why?  How does this strengthen their company?

Please email me your answers.  With your names.
